Christmas 2006

We had pre-Christmas celebrations here today as we are leaving for Singapore this Thursday. Everyone got together for a pot luck lunch and had an absolute ball.

The gifts were a real hit too. I got some ideas from Better Homes & Garden magazine and hand made Christmas tree decorations for everyone. It took a couple of weeks to make them but it was so satisfying seeing how much everyone appreciated their little gifts.

All You Have is All You Need

“What is Simple Abundance? Giving thanks, finding comfort, restoring passions … everyday… Rediscovering what matters to you and cherishing it… All you have is all you need.”

Sarah Ban Breathnach

I was deeply inspired a few years ago by a book I read called “Simple Abundance: A Daybook of Comfort and Joy” by Sarah Ban Breathnach. The book has 366 short essays, one for each day of the year. It is an excellent book to start reading in the new year.

It has taught me a few simple, but crucial, life principles – gratitude, simplicity, order, harmony, beauty and joy. Thus, I have named this blog “A Simple Abundant Life” and try to lead my life authentically, counting my blessings every single day.

You might have also noticed that I normally blog about the positive things in my life. I do not find that negative thoughts need to be shared so publicly. There is enough of that in the news and in your own lives. I hope that you will continue reading my blog and even pick up the book and read it. You really have nothing to lose, do you?

Honeymoon at Last!

We were browsing the net and found extremely cheap flights from Singapore to Phuket – $180 for return tickets (including tax and fees) for BOTH of us! We are finally going on our honeymoon. A nice, relaxing week in Phuket! I’m soooo excited! My head feels like it is going to explode!
