This daggy corkboard is in desperate need of a makeover. It’s in Richard’s corner of the office and its terrribly boring.

30 minutes of crafting later… Look at the difference!

Here are the materials I’ve used:
1. Ikea fabric remnant
2. Dressmaker scissors
3. Staple gun
4. Upholstery tacks & hammer (optional)

Step 1: Place corkboard face down onto wrong side of Ikea fabric. Cut fabric to size, leaving a 2″ allowance all around.

Step 2: Trim corners to reduce bulk when folded.

Step 3: Fold fabric along the edge of the corkboard and staple into place. Staple the opposite side that you’ve just done and keep fabric taut by pulling it tightly before stapling. I stapled the long side egdes first, then the top and bottom edges.

Step 4: (Optional) Lightly tap the upholstery tacks along the edge of the corkboard. To stop the paint from chipping off the tacks, cover the head of your hammer with fabric or felt and use a rubber band to hold in place.

Now proudly display your corkboard in the room of your choice.

Come into our bedroom. I want to show you something.

That’s my little corner there by the lamp.

I’ve hung something special in my little corner today.

Yes. It is the Starry Serenade embroidery. ![]()

Pattern: Starry Serenade Redwork
I even tried sewing a few different embroidery stitches.

Isn’t it pretty? I must say that I’m very proud of my first embroidery project. I think I did very well, even if I do say so myself. Haha…
Thank you so much Cath for getting me into it.
I’ve got a few more embroidery projects planned already.
Oh I can’t wait to go to bed tonight. I just love my bedroom even more now!

This ultra-light, ultra-soft Baktus scarf was knitted with leftover Malabrigo Lace yarn from my previous knitting project, Muir. I had 40 grams of yarn left and had queued this pattern in Ravelry for a long time. It was the perfect match and I couldn’t have timed it better. Spring is here and this simple, knitted scarf is just right for cool days.

I’ve worn it almost every day and it’s become my favourite hand knit so far.

Pattern: Baktus Scarf from Strikkelese
Yarn: Malabrigo Lace Alpine Pearl
Needles: 4mm
Mods: None
The Malabrigo yarn is, as usual, to die for. Ridiculously soft and yummy. I always buy mine from Yarn and Kisses. I’ve found that it has the best price in Australia and the range is always getting bigger. I might even have a Malabrigo giveaway in a few weeks time since I love it so much.
*hint hint*
Talking about loving things, I love the Baktus scarf pattern so much that I’m thinking of starting another one. My bro-in-law, James, gave me wool recently and I think I’ll knit a striped Baktus next. I’ve wanted a striped Baktus ever since I saw Oiyi’s Villain scarf. How gorgeous is her scarf!

I don’t have enough wool yet but I’ve asked James to buy one more ball of each colour. I’m contemplating whether to knit the original Baktus scarf or try the lacy one. I’ve searched Ravelry and no one has deliberately striped their lacy baktus. Hmm… not sure which to knit.
What do you think?

These limited edition Amigurumi Pears are now available at MY SHOP and they are never to be reproduced (by me) again. They’re the same gigantic pear plushies but crocheted with Lion Brand Wool-ease Chunky. Their bright eyes and leaves brighten their lovely smiles even more!
Meet Gigi, Gugu and Gaga Pears.

We took them on a walk with us the other day and I think they loved it! They couldn’t stop smiling! ![]()
They love the boats.

They love the birds.

They love the water.

Gaga even wanted to go for a dive and the other two were not far behind!

It’s a good thing Richard was quick on his feet and scooped them into his arms before anyone got wet!

Phew!
