Christmas Gifts: Crochet Potholders

I’ve started making gifts for Christmas. I’ve crocheted these potholders over the weekend while watching TV and they are super quick, easy and FUN!

Pattern: Scalloped Potholder and Crochet Flower Hot Pad
Yarn: Anchor Magicline
Hook: 4.25mm
Mods: None
@ Ravelry [1] [2]

The scalloped potholder (on the top) is twice as thick as the crochet flower hot pad, and is very soft and squishy. I’ve fallen in love with it and I’d probably have to make one to keep for myself.

I’m thrilled that Spotlight has stocked up on Anchor Magicline. At $10 for a pack of 10 balls (50g), they’re a bargain, just like the Ecoyarns yarn packs at my shop. 😛 It’s amazing what you can make with just one or two balls of yarn.

I have a few more these cotton yarn left, even though I’ve already made the Blue Christmas Tree and these potholders.

Now I’m all set to crochet the Chrysanthemum Dishcloth [Ravelry] but my RSI is pretty bad at the moment. My elbow throbs and I get shooting pain down to my hand. So I really need to rest for a while.

On the up side, it gives me more time to read and do a bit more sewing. I’m really excited to show you what I sewed up yesterday! Alas, it has to wait till next time. I’ll see you back here on Wednesday, ok?

Have a happy Monday!

Just wanted to let you know that my Kmart has Zoomy on sale and they are discontinuing it – it is currently $2.50-$3.00/ ball. I am going to buy up all they have, so you might want to see if they are doing the same thing at your Kmart and stock up. Hope I can still get it somewhere at a later date, or find something just as effective as an alternative!

I have bought out all the Panda Zoomy I can get my hands on when I saw them at that price around here. Sad to hear that they’re being discontinued. Have you found a substitute for your shop items?

The pot holders look great. I will have to add them to my list of things to try. Were they hard?

Hi Linda! No, they’re not hard. The flower hot pad was a little tricky to finish off but if you need help with it, just let me know. 🙂

Beautiful! Inspiring! However, for myself, I’d rather knit, since my arthritis flares up royally when crocheting (probably from overdoing it for over 35 years!)…..
