Sunlight trickles through the drawn blinds. The air is cold and I can barely stand getting out of bed in winter. The thought of tea awakens me. I feel like darjeeling this morning. My new teapot and it’s crocheted cozy greets me cheerily on the bench top. It reminds me of the sunshine that is yet to come.
I pour my freshly brewed tea into cold cups. They’ll embrace the warmth soon as it’s time to bathe the room with sun rays.

The tea set lights up. The wooden buttons glisten as darkness leaves the room. Shades of yellow and white mingle with the fresh new day streaming in.

As I watch the steam disappearing with the night, I find myself looking down onto a single flower. Is it blooming right before my eyes?

I have seen that flower before. It’s still fresh in my mind. There was a beautiful woman from a faraway land who wore cotton flowers on cold days just like this one. Soft petals caress her gentle face and she looked content.

The teapot cozy was mimicking her. The crochet flower came from this same seed, I’m sure.

But none of it matters. On winter mornings, all I want is a pot of hot tea. Care to join me?

Now that is just darling! Totally adore the colour and the single flower on top is just the icing on the cake – beautiful!

Oiyi: Thanks Oiyi!

Umi: In winter, the tea gets cold quicker than I can drink it if I don’t clothe the teapot. Good to hear that you like how I wrote too. Thanks!
Nadine: What a lovely thing to say!
