Johnny Apple & Little Mac

Whether you like them big or small, who wouldn’t fall in love with these adorable apples? Both apples are crocheted using the same basic apple pattern but are made from different thickness yarn and crochet hook size.

Difficulty level: EASY
You will need to have basic crochet skills. This project uses basic stitches, simple shaping and finishing. The pattern has detailed instructions, tips and links to video tutorials.

FINISHED MEASUREMENTS
Johnny Apple: 5.5″ (14 cm) tall and 21″ (53.5 cm) around the widest part
Little Mac: 3.5″ (9 cm) tall and 12.5″ (32cm) around the widest part

YARN
For Johnny Apple:
Panda Zoomy (red), about 80 yd (73 m)
Panda Zoomy (green), scrap amount for the leaf
Scrap amount of brown DK weight yarn for mouth and stem

Note: If you are unable to find Panda Zoomy, use double strand of Dk weight yarn for the apple and leaf. You’ll need about 237 yd (217 m) of red DK weight yarn and a small amount of green.

For Little Mac:
DK weight/ 8 ply Acrylic (red), about 54 yd (50 m)
Scrap amount of DK weight yarn in brown, green, white and yellow

HOOKS
Size K/10.5 (6.5 mm)
Size F/5 (3.75 mm)

OTHER TOOLS & MATERIALS
Removable stitch marker
Polyester filling
Embroidery needle
7” (178mm) long joining needle (used for doll making)
18mm safety eyes

GAUGE
For Johnny Apple:
Using Panda Zoomy and size K/10.5 (6.5mm) hook, 3 rounds = 2¾” (7cm)

For Little Mac:
Using DK weight acrylic yarn and size F/5 (3.75mm) hook, 4 rounds = 2¾″ (6 cm)

Although exact gauge is not essential, it is best to crochet tightly enough so that the polyester filling does not show through too much when the crocheted fabric is slightly stretched.
